You don’t need a drill … You need a Hole!

But a drill is the fastest and easiest way to get you that hole.  And a cordless drill allows you to work in places where electricity is either not available or you just don’t want the hassle of tangled extension cords.

Panasonic_Cordless_DrillBut which cordless drill to buy?  You want the right tool for the right job.  And Cordless Drill Review is here to help.

Let's take a look at the types of cordless drills on the market so you can pick one best suited for the job at hand:

  • Cordless hammer drill/drivers: By far, the most common type of cordless tool and ideal for do-it-yourselfers because of the many functional uses it provides.  Besides drilling holes they make pretty good powered screwdrivers.  They are designed with adjustable clutches to reduce torque, otherwise you’ll be stripping screws.
  • Cordless hammer drill/drivers:: These type of units have ramped-up power and are capable of drilling into extremely hard objects like brick and cement.  Granted, hammer drills are heavier and add to fatigue rather quickly, but they pack extra power to penetrate hard surfaces.
  • Cordless impact drivers: Impact drivers are primarily used for driving large screws similar to the kind used in buildings and wood decks. These units can sense resistance and automatically adjust the torque to maintain good contact with the screw head.
  • Batteries for cordless drills: Lithium ion (Li-Ion) batteries have longer lifespan than NiCad batteries although NiCad batteries function well in cold climates.. Plus Li-Ion provide a much longer ‘run time’.   NiMH batteries are also long-running and are environmentally friendly. Often you can power multiple tools with the same rechargeable battery pack.  The convenience of using the same battery for circular saws, flashlights, string trimmers and other power tools is a real value.Dewalt_Cordless_Drill
  • •Torque power: Generally speaking, the higher the voltage, the higher the torque. For most household uses though, more isn’t necessarily better.  It’s just more!
  • •Keyless chucks: This feature allows for quickly tightening bits in place with the hassle of tightening with a key.  A chuck must be able to grasp the bit firmly -and in the center – to prevent slips and wobbly spins.
